Hema Kaur Sidhu, PhD, RPSGT, RST completed her PhD (Research on Parkinsonism using Methamphetamine in animal model) at Amritsar, India. She then pursued research as a Post-Doctoral fellowship at Molecular Neuropsychiatry Section NIDA/NIH, Baltimore, MD. In 1997, Hema moved to research/industry at Chembio Diagnostics, Medford , NY and was one of the three members of the first team which developed a home-based test for Lyme disease approved by FDA. In 2000 she joined the field of Sleep Medicine and has been serving in this field ever since – first as Clinical Coordinator of the Sleep Lab at Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, MD; and currently working on Sleep Studies data analysis. Hema is looking forward to easy, affordable Home based Sleep Testing being provided in the future.
Hema is also an active member of other professional societies including the American Sleep Society of Technologists. She is a Pastoral Volunteer at Chaplaincy Department, Howard County General Hospital, affiliated with Johns Hopkins; maintains a Chaplaincy certification for FEMA; and served in several positions at Khalsa Toastmasters International Club, Silver Spring, MD.
