Grace Pien, MD, MSCE is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she is the program director of the Sleep Medicine fellowship program and medical director of the Sleep Medicine clinical practices at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Bayview Medical Center. Dr. Pien completed fellowship training in sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Pien also received a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology at the Penn Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Dr. Pien has served on numerous committees and held leadership roles in the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Sleep and Respiratory Neurobiology Assembly of the American Thoracic Society. She has organized and spoken at multiple scientific symposia and postgraduate courses at scientific meetings related to sleep medicine and is the author of more than 50 publications. Her research has focused on sleep and sleep-disordered breathing in women and clinical phenotypes of obstructive sleep apnea.

During her free time, Dr. Pien enjoys gardening, hiking and spending time with her family. In the fall of 2023, Dr. Pien will cycle off the Maryland Sleep Society Board and will be moving to a new position at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
